Project Story:

A labor of love, Chris and Hanna sweat the small stuff.

Luckily for them, so do we.

After years of planning, shopping around, and prep work they chose a vendor based on their affinity to detail, beautiful design, and sustainability.

Since installation day, they’ve spent the last few months of sauna ownership perfecting their backyard oasis, adding small details that make a big impact; from strategically-placed Thermocells for bug control to voice-command features like waterfalls and smart lights.

Here’s what they had to say about their experience:

“We fell in love with sauna years ago when we used a sauna at our favorite Northern Minnesota resort each time we visited.

“That love grew when we first experienced a Cedar & Stone sauna in Duluth a few years ago.

“It quickly became a ritual that we adopted with our friends – we’d seek out a community sauna experience in the Twin Cities or on the North Shore.

“Each time we’d come away feeling refreshed, relaxed and having some of the best sleep of our lives.

“As we cleared invasive buckthorn in our backyard, we also began to imagine a healthier native woods, which was also a perfect spot for our sauna.

After years of dreaming and planning, we could not be happier with our Cedar & Stone sauna and having added it to our backyard wooded sanctuary.”

Chris and Hannah reflected further, “From our initial meeting to our continued friendship, the team at Cedar and Stone are genuinely great people doing great work. The addition of our stunningly designed, master crafted and ingeniously engineered sauna has changed our lives — we couldn’t be more proud to have a Cedar and Stone Sauna literally in our backyard. We already look back fondly at the memories we’ve made and can’t wait for the ones ahead.”

Bring Beauty to Your Backyard

This modern outdoor sauna features a Huum Hive Wi-Fi-enabled electric stove, a perfect option for Chris and Hanna to heat up the stove from anywhere. Two rows of benches, equipped with under-bench LED lighting (which they opted to upgrade so they can change colors and settings), allow for seating up to five people and provide plenty of space to stretch out on those solo or couples sauna sessions.

The client also requested Sonos speakers be built into the hot room under the benches for them to enjoy their favorite music while moving through the thermic cycle.

The dramatic window wall offers a perfect view of their natural backyard and its surrounding wildlife.

A short distance from the sauna, a cedar timber path beckons guests to cold plunge under their freestanding bucket shower three seasons of the year amidst their sauna ritual.

They keep their changing room stocked with sauna towels, essential oils, and more for easy access during their weekly sessions.
