Loll Designs Furniture with Cedar and Stone Nordic Sauna

Have you ever entered a room and worried about how you would be treated?

One of our favorite quotes about sauna is: “All are created equal; but nowhere more so than in a sauna.” — FINNISH PROVERB

The sauna is an inherently egalitarian space—everyone is equal. It is a space where all arrive without pomp and circumstance, without clout, without reputation.

You are not your job, accomplishments, or wealth. You simply get to be you. This isn’t an elitist and exclusive club. This is the shared experience of sauna.

Perhaps you have experienced sauna as a place of competition, where there is some invisible badge of honor for staying in the heat the longest, or for taking the most steam. Sorry Bro, that is the Americanized version of sauna. This ain’t your uncle’s beer-swiggin’ steam room. Save that for the hunting shack. 🤣

“All are created equal; but nowhere more so than in a sauna.”

And that is not to say Finnish culture 🇫🇮 is not competitive, that little country has produced some amazing competitors. It’s simply that sauna is not the space for competition.

Let us help you see another way.

In sauna, we heat as a community. As is Finnish custom, we always ask if everyone is ready for more steam. The one who ultimately gets to decide is the person who has been in the longest. They have felt the most heat so we let them decide, and if they are ready, we create another wave of heat.

Brilliant right?

For those who have a hard time finding spaces to be seen and known.

For those who worry about how they will be perceived and welcomed.

For those who keep their competition on the field.

We have a spot for you.
